# Why Did My Post Fail?

> Understand post statuses like Failed and Needs attention, the common reasons a post doesn't go out, and how to fix it.

> **For AI agents:** a documentation index is at [/llms.txt](/llms.txt). Every page is also available as markdown, just append `.md` to the URL.

## Overview

Most failed posts come from one of five causes: the social account needs reconnecting, the clip wasn't exported in time, the video doesn't meet the platform's requirements, the social platform's own posting limit was reached, or the platform rejected the post. Check the post's status in the **Calendar**, then use the fixes below.

## Post Statuses

| Status | What it means |
| - | - |
| **Scheduled** | The post is queued for its date and time. |
| **Processing** | Reap is preparing or sending the post. |
| **Posted / Published** | The post went live. |
| **Failed** | The post didn't go out. |
| **Needs attention** | Something about the post needs fixing before it can go out. Open the post to see what's wrong. |

## Common Reasons And Fixes

### The Social Account Was Disconnected Or Its Access Expired

Platforms sometimes expire the access they've given Reap.

**Fix:** go to **Settings › Connect Socials**, reconnect the account, then schedule the post again.

### The Clip Wasn't Exported Before The Scheduled Time

Reap exports unexported clips automatically before they post. If the export doesn't finish in time, the post can fail.

**Fix:** export the clip, wait until it shows **Ready to download**, then reschedule. For important posts, export ahead of time. See [Why the "Publish" Button Is Disabled for Un Exported Clips](/help-center/why-the-publish-button-is-disabled-for-un-exported-clips).

### The Video Doesn't Meet The Platform's Requirements

Reap checks the video before posting and may show:

* **This clip's size isn't supported for Reels.** Facebook Reels need a vertical (9:16) video of at least 540 × 960 pixels.
* **This clip's frame rate isn't supported for Reels.** Facebook Reels need 24–60 frames per second.
* **This clip is too short / too long.** Facebook Reels must be 3–90 seconds.
* **This clip doesn't meet Facebook's Reel requirements.** Post it as a **Video** instead.
* **We couldn't read this video. Try another file or export this clip again.** The file may be damaged. Export it again or upload a different file.

### The Social Platform's Posting Limit Was Reached

Each social platform limits how many posts an account can publish in a set period, such as a day. These limits are set by the platform, not by Reap. Once an account reaches its limit, any further posts to that account fail until the limit resets.

**Fix:** wait for the platform's limit to reset, then schedule the post again. To avoid this, spread your posts out across the day or week instead of publishing many at once. See [Posting Limits & Best Practices](/help-center/posting-limits-and-best-practices).

### The Caption Is Too Long

Each platform limits title and description length. See [Posting Limits & Best Practices](/help-center/posting-limits-and-best-practices).

## Why A Clip Can't Be Selected For Scheduling

When you pick clips to schedule, some may be greyed out with one of these reasons:

| Message | What to do |
| - | - |
| **Clip is still processing.** | Wait for it to finish. |
| **Clip is invalid.** | The clip failed to process. Try another clip or contact support. |
| **Clip has no exported file.** | Export the clip first. |
| **Maximum export limit reached for this clip.** | The clip has been exported the maximum number of times. Contact support. |
| **Upload clips are not supported for bulk scheduling.** | Schedule uploaded videos one at a time from the Calendar. |

## Still Failing?

Contact support from the chat bubble or at [hello@reap.video](mailto:hello@reap.video). Include the platform, the account name, and the scheduled time of the post.
