# Timeline Settings

> Change the clip's aspect ratio and export resolution, check how many timeline rows you're using, and reset the timeline.

> **For AI agents:** a documentation index is at [/llms.txt](/llms.txt). Every page is also available as markdown, just append `.md` to the URL.

## Overview

**Timeline settings** holds the options that apply to the whole clip rather than a single layer. Open it with the gear button at the right end of the timeline toolbar in the editor.

<video controls playsInline width="100%" poster="/images/help-center/editor-timeline-settings-poster.jpg" src="https://mintcdn.com/reap/KDevp7fQ_nNnw83g/images/help-center/editor-timeline-settings.mp4?fit=max&auto=format&n=KDevp7fQ_nNnw83g&q=85&s=64c3145d82acacc9159fd01cbf981b1a" title="Open Timeline settings in the Reap editor" data-path="images/help-center/editor-timeline-settings.mp4" />

## What You Can Change

| Setting | Options | What it does |
| - | - | - |
| **Rows** | Shows rows used out of the maximum, for example **3/8** | A clip can have up to 8 timeline rows. See [How to add more rows on the timeline](/help-center/how-to-add-more-rows-on-the-timeline-in-the-editor). |
| **Aspect Ratio** | **Original**, **9:16**, **1:1** | Changes the shape of the clip. Use 9:16 for Shorts, Reels, and TikTok, 1:1 for square feed posts, or Original to keep the source shape. |
| **Export Resolution** | **720p**, **1080p**, **2K**, **4K** | Sets the quality of the exported video. Higher resolutions take longer to export. The options available depend on your plan. |
| **Reset Timeline** | — | Returns the clip to the last version you saved. See below. |

<Note>
  After you change the aspect ratio, review each segment. Framing that worked in landscape may need adjusting in portrait. See [How to change the orientation of AI-generated clips](/help-center/how-to-change-the-orientation-of-ai-generated-clips).
</Note>

## Reset The Timeline

**Reset Timeline** puts the clip back to the last version you saved. Every edit you've made since then, including clips, captions, style, and layout, is lost, and you can't undo the reset.

1. Click the gear button to open **Timeline settings**.
2. Click **Reset Timeline**.
3. Confirm in the dialog.

<Warning>
  Only reset when you want to throw away all unsaved changes. To undo a single step, use **Undo** in the toolbar or press **⌘Z** (Ctrl+Z on Windows).
</Warning>
