> Crop a video or image layer, round its corners, add padding with a background color, and apply filter presets.

> **For AI agents:** a documentation index is at [/llms.txt](/llms.txt). Every page is also available as markdown, just append `.md` to the URL.

## Overview

When you select a video or image layer on the timeline, its panel opens on the right with three tabs:

* **Settings**: layout, crop, volume, speed, and enter or exit animations.
* **Style**: filters, corner radius, brightness, and padding.
* **AI**: Green Screen Removal.

This guide covers cropping and the **Style** tab.

## Style A Layer

Open the **Style** tab to change how the layer looks:

| Setting | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Filter Preset** | Applies a look in one click: Retro, Vintage, Wes Anderson, Film Noir, Polaroid, Cinematic, Cool, Warm, Expired Film, Kodak, or Super 8. |
| **Border Radius** | Rounds the corners of the layer. `0px` gives square corners. |
| **Brightness** | Makes the layer lighter or darker. `100%` is the original. |
| **Padding** | Adds space around the layer inside the frame. |
| **Padding Background** | Sets the color that fills the padding. |

<Tip>
  Rounded corners with padding work well for picture-in-picture layouts and screen recordings placed over a colored background.
</Tip>

## Layout Effects

The **Layout** menu on the **Settings** tab lets you choose how the segment is framed. It also includes **3D Layout Effects** for a tilted, three-dimensional look. See [How can I change the clip layout?](/help-center/how-can-i-change-the-clip-layout) for the standard layouts.
